Intricate weaving styles and designs of intense depth and complexity

Across a sweeping landscape, India produces a vast array of rugs as colorful and unique as the country's diverse and rich cultures. The selection is beyond imagination with countless wool rugs in virtually every pattern, size and quality - woven in brilliant jewel tones, soft antique-style patinas and the latest hues inspired by the fashion industry.

Most Indian rugs come from its two largest weaving districts - the areas surrounding Varanasi in east-central India and Jaipur, southwest of Delhi. The holy city of Varanasi is known for its wide range of classic rugs crafted with traditional weaving techniques, from low-end tufted rugs to those with very high knot counts.

In the last decade Jaipur has become India's major rug-weaving center, creating some of the most exquisite and decorative rugs in the world. Often woven with blends of wools imported from 2 or 3 countries, these rugs are prized for their truly unique textures. And their impressive depth and complexity is the result of carefully blending 20 or more different colors.
